Avs overcome Stars in SO

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Ryan O’Reilly scored the lone goal of the
shootout and Semyon Varlamov stopped all three shooters as the Colorado
Avalanche rallied for a 5-4 win over the Dallas Stars on Friday.

O’Reilly, Colorado’s first shooter, skated down the right side, cut toward the
slot and lifted a backhander over Kari Lehtonen’s glove. Varlamov denied Jason
Spezza, Jamie Benn and Vernon Fiddler to seal the win.

Tyson Barrie and Nate Guenin each tallied a goal and two assists, Gabriel
Landeskog supplied a goal and a helper and Jarome Iginla also lit the lamp for
the Avalanche, who have won three of their last four games.

Varlamov made 32 saves in his 17th straight start.

Cody Eakin finished with two goals and an assist, Antoine Roussel and Jason
Spezza each scored and Lehtonen stopped 19 shots in the Stars’ fifth
consecutive loss.
