Coyotes top Panthers in OT

Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) – Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored on the power
play 2:20 into overtime to lift the Arizona Coyotes over the Florida Panthers,
2-1, on Saturday.

Florida’s Aleksander Barkov was sent to the penalty box for high sticking 1:25
into overtime. Ekman-Larsson took a pass from Sam Gagner and beat Roberto
Luongo from the left circle to help Arizona stop a three-game losing streak.

Justin Hodgman tied the game midway through the third period for the Coyotes,
who got 23 saves from Mike Smith.

Brandon Pirri scored the lone goal for the Panthers, who went 2-0-2 on a four-
game road trip. Luongo stopped 39-of-41 shots.

Pirri broke a scoreless tie at the 1:47 mark of the third period. Arizona
defenseman Keith Yandle turned the puck over behind his own net, and the disc
went to Tomas Fleischmann. He fed it out front to Pirri, who used a backhander
to beat Smith.

Hodgman scored in his NHL debut at 9:51 when he put home a rebound off
Yandle’s blast from the point.
