Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Anaheim Ducks acquired veteran
defenseman Eric Brewer from the Tampa Bay Lightning Friday in exchange for a
third-round selection in the 2015 NHL Draft.
The draft pick that Tampa Bay received was originally acquired by Anaheim from
Edmonton in the trade that sent goaltender Viktor Fasth to the Oilers on March
4.
Brewer, who has tallied four assists through 17 games so far this season, was
drafted fifth overall by the New York Islanders in 1997 and has played in 982
games with Edmonton, St. Louis, Tampa Bay and the Islanders, totaling 74 goals
and 264 points over 16 seasons.
The 2003 NHL All-Star and former Blues captain will help solidify a blue line
that will be without Francois Beauchemin and Clayton Stoner.
Anaheim announced that both players were placed on injured reserve Friday, as
Beauchemin will miss 4-to-6 weeks with a broken finger and Stoner is day-to-
day with the mumps.
