New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Calgary Flames rookie forward Johnny
Gaudreau, Nashville Predators center Colin Wilson and Arizona Coyotes forward
Sam Gagner were named Monday as the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending
Dec. 28.
Gaudreau finished his best week as a young professional, leading the NHL with
five goals and sharing the league lead with a plus-5 rating in only two games
— both Calgary victories. The native of south Jersey recorded his first
career hat trick in his 36th professional contest to help the Flames erase a
3-0 deficit and beat the Kings, 4-3 in overtime last Monday. He finished up
the week by tallying twice in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Edmonton.
Wilson tied for second in scoring with five points (4G, 1A) in three contests.
He contributed a goal and assist to a 5-1 win over Columbus on Dec. 22, then
posted his first multi-goal effort of the season in a 4-1 decision over the
Flyers two days ago.
Gagner led the Coyotes with an NHL-best six points (2G, 4A), which helped
Arizona to a pair of victories. He put together a season-high four points (2G,
2A) in the Coyotes’ 5-1 win over the Oilers last Tuesday.
