Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – The New York Islanders had payback on
their minds when they took on the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.
Jaroslav Halak posted his second straight shutout and the Islanders claimed a
6-0 decision to avenge an earlier loss to the Avalanche.
The Islanders traveled to Colorado on Oct. 30 and lost 5-0, their biggest
margin of defeat this season.
But Tuesday was a much different outcome thanks to Halak’s 20 saves and a
balanced offensive attack.
Halak kept Arizona off the board in a 1-0 win on Saturday. Tuesday’s victory
was the 150th of his career. It was also his 32nd career shutout.
Nick Leddy, Anders Lee, Travis Hamonic, Nikolay Kulemin, Casey Cizikas and
Ryan Strome each scored for New York, which has won four in a row.
Semyon Varlamov made 40 saves for the Avs, who fell to 4-8-5 on the season.
