New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Columbus Blue Jackets wing Scott Hartnell
and goaltenders Cam Talbot of the New York Rangers and Andrew Hammond of the
Ottawa Senators were selected as the NHL’s top players for last week.
Hartnell earned the First Star after leading the NHL with five goals in four
games last week. He scored at least once in each game, including a two-goal
effort in a 4-3 shootout win over Carolina on March 10.
Talbot, last week’s Third Star, is the Second Star. He won all three of his
starts last week with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .969 save percentage
to help the Rangers to the No. 1 overall position in the NHL standings.
Hammond also won all three of his starts last week with a 1.30 GAA and a .957
save percentage to pick up the Third Star. The “Hamburglar” has a record of
10-0-1 since making his first NHL start Feb. 18, allowing two goals or fewer
in all 11 games.
