Hurricanes’ Staal set to return

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) – The Carolina Hurricanes expect to have
captain Eric Staal back in the lineup when the struggling club takes on the
Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday.

The Hurricanes activated Staal from injured reserve prior to Tuesday’s
matchup, with forward Patrick Brown assigned to Charlotte of the AHL to open
up a roster spot.

Staal has missed five straight games — all losses — after suffering an
upper-body injury in an Oct. 11 contest against the New York Islanders.

The five-time All-Star center had a goal and an assist through Carolina’s
opening two games of the season. Staal led the Hurricanes in scoring for the
seventh time in the last 10 seasons in 2013-14, compiling 21 goals and 40
assists over 79 games.

Carolina enters Tuesday’s clash as the NHL’s lone remaining winless team at
0-5-2.
