Jackets deal Erixon to Blackhawks for Morin

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired
forward Jeremy Morin from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman
Tim Erixon.

Morin had been a healthy scratch for the past 11 games in Chicago and had yet
to register a point in 15 games this season. He has eight goals and eight
assists for 16 points in 54 NHL games over five seasons.

“Jeremy is a young, strong forward with a very good shot, who has been a
productive offensive player throughout his career,” said Blue Jackets general
manager Jarmo Kekalainen. “Given our depth at defense, this was an opportunity
for us to add a very good player with a lot of potential on the other end.”

Erixon had a goal and five points in 19 games for Columbus this season. He has
one goal and 12 assists in 70 NHL games over three seasons with the Blue
Jackets and one with the New York Rangers.
