Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) – Michael Frolik scored a third-period goal
and collected an assist, helping the Winnipeg Jets beat the New Jersey Devils
3-1 on Tuesday.
Mathieu Perreault and Mark Scheifele scored 1:44 apart in the second period
and Michael Hutchinson stopped 21 shots for the Jets, who opened a three-game
homestand following a 2-2-1 road trip.
Martin Havlat scored early in the third for New Jersey, which has dropped two
straight games and six of eight overall.
Cory Schneider allowed three goals on 34 shots in his 19th consecutive start.
He tied Martin Brodeur’s Devils record for the longest stretch to begin a
season.
