Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) – Mathieu Perreault’s redirection goal came
only 17 seconds into overtime and lifted Winnipeg to a 3-2 victory over
hapless Edmonton at MTS Centre.
The Jets controlled the puck following the faceoff to begin the extra session,
and on the dump-in to the Edmonton zone, Evander Kane fished the puck away
from the left-wing boards.
He dished to the point for Jacob Trouba, whose wrister was tipped en route by
Perreault to end the contest.
Trouba finished with a goal and two assists while Dustin Byfuglien supplied
the other marker for the Jets, who improved to 2-2 in games decided by the
five-minute overtime period.
Ondrej Pavelec made 22 saves as Winnipeg has taken three of its last four
outings.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and David Perron lit the lamp for the Oilers, who remained
winless against Western Conference competition this season.
Ben Scrivens as Edmonton has dropped 11 straight games and three of their last
four beyond regulation.
