Leafs’ Winnik taken off on stretcher

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) — Toronto Maple Leafs forward Daniel Winnik
left Thursday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche on a stretcher in the
first period.

Winnik was felled by a hard hit from Colorado forward Jan Hejda and crumpled
to the ice, where he remained motionless for several minutes before being
taken for evaluation.

The Leafs’ public relations staff revealed a short time later that Winnik
was alert and moving while being examined by the club’s team doctor.
