Big free agent signing plus the continued development of talent was to bode well for a city starving for success. This might be derailed with the arrest of Evander Kane recently.
Evander Kane : Potential Distraction
Kyle Okposo coming to town was supposed to be the last piece to the puzzle. Well now the entire table has been shaken with the image before us not so clear now. Evander got the wrist jewelry as he was placed in custody for four charges of harassment outside of a local night club. This has been a month in the making as the city attorney was pondering the charges coming with his altercations with four women and a bouncer. Charge of trespass was also added for good measure.
Past Concern
Back in December he was investigated for an encounter of a sexual nature that a woman could not remember. The lady in question did not file a complaint but her statements at the hospital triggered an automatic response system put in place for potential attacks. This with his early problems in Winnipeg seem to be a big concern with maturity. Long road trips with stops in cities more interesting than Buffalo could cause a blow up down the road.
Here is a situation where a team could have someone too young on their hands. He has talent but so do others in the league that can replace him. Issues like chemistry should outweigh potential at this juncture for this franchise. Look for Buffalo to possibly cut him or try to get scraps for him to just get him out of town.
