Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Pittsburgh Penguins forward Chris Kunitz
will likely be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks because of a fracture
in his foot.
Penguins coach Mike Johnston said after Tuesday’s game against New Jersey that
an MRI exam earlier in the day revealed the fracture.
“They decided to take a closer look at his foot,” Johnston said after the 1-0
victory. “I don’t have a specific timeline for that right now. They don’t
expect it will be long. He’ll be out for a couple weeks I would think.”
Kunitz, who played in the team’s previous game on Nov. 29 against Carolina,
has nine goals and 11 assists in 23 games this season.
The Penguins also placed defenseman Kris Letang on injured reserve because of
a groin injury.
Letang missed the Carolina contest on Saturday and has four goals with 14
assists in 22 games this season.
