New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – The New York Rangers have given backup
goaltender Cam Talbot a contract extension.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Talbot has appeared in seven games this season as the backup to Henrik
Lundqvist and has posted a record of 2-3-1 with a 2.34 goals-against average,
two shutouts and a .921 save percentage. He is the only netminder this season
with six or fewer starts to post two shutouts.
The 27-year-old Ontario native registered shutouts in back-to-back starts,
blanking Philadelphia on Nov. 19 and turning the trick against the Flyers
again nine days later. He has the fourth-longest shutout streak in the NHL
this season at 159:48.
In 28 career NHL games over two seasons, Talbot has a record of 14-9-2 with a
1.80 GAA, five shutouts and a .936 save percentage.
