Rinne, Predators ground Jets

Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) – Pekka Rinne made 31 saves to earn his 33rd
career shutout as the Nashville Predators spoiled the Winnipeg Jets’ home
opener with a 2-0 win on Friday night.

James Neal, acquired from Pittsburgh in an offseason trade, scored his first
goal of the season and Mike Ribeiro added a tally for Nashville, which played
its first road game after going 2-0-1 on a season-opening homestand.

Ondrej Pavelec made 25 saves for the Jets, who have totaled one goal while
losing three straight. They scored six in Arizona to begin the season.

Ribeiro deflected Seth Jones’ point shot past Pavelec, giving Nashville a 1-0
lead with 3:40 remaining in the first period.

Neal, a former 40-goal scorer, lit the lamp off a feed from Filip Forsberg at
7:31 of the third period.

The NHL announced Friday that Nashville will host the 2016 All-Star Game …
The Jets were 0-for-3 on the power play and have failed to convert on any of
their 12 chances with the man advantage this season. However, they are 18-
for-18 on the penalty kill … Anton Volchenkov assisted on both goals.
