Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) – Cory Schneider stopped 33 shots to lead the
New Jersey Devils in a 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.
Adam Larsson, Eric Gelinas and Mike Cammalleri each scored a goal for the
Devils, who have won their past two.
Mike Fisher had the only goal of the game for the Predators, who have lost
four straight in regulation. Carter Hutton allowed two goals on 23 shots in
the loss.
The Devils scored just 58 seconds in as Patrik Elias skated in down the left
wing and sent it over to the slot where Larsson wristed it into the left
corner for his third of the year.
Three minutes later, New Jersey made it a 2-0 game as Gelinas’ one-timer from
the high slot found the back of the net for his fifth of the season.
Nashville scored the only goal of the second period and did so 2:11 in as
Fisher snapped in a rebound from the left side for his 16th goal of the
season.
Schneider, who made 20 saves in the second period, turned aside 10 in the
final frame to keep Nashville from tying.
Cammalleri was hauled down near the Nashville net with Hutton on the bench for
an extra attacker, and he was awarded a goal with 1:14 to play to account for
the final score.
Game Notes
New Jersey hosts Columbus on Friday … Nashville, which last lost four
straight from March 1-8, 2014, hosts the Islanders on Thursday … New Jersey
was 1-for-3 on the power play while Nashville went 0-for-3.
