Subban fined for embellishment

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban
was fined $2,000 by the NHL for embellishment on Wednesday.

Players receive fines under NHL Rule 64 after two citations from the league. A
player’s first citation results in a warning, which Subban received after
Montreal’s Jan. 6 game against the Tampa Bay Lightning when he dove to draw a
tripping penalty against Jason Garrison.

On Jan. 29 against the New York Rangers, Subban was issued an embellishment
penalty after receiving a light cross-check in the back from Chris Kreider,
who went to the penalty box himself for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Further citations will result in escalating fines for Subban and potentially
his coach, Michel Therrien.
